2nd Annual Museum Mile Weekend
September 25-26, 2010
|
Join us for Charleston's second annual Museum Mile Weekend! Launched in 2008, the Museum Mile features the richest concentration of cultural sites open to visitors in downtown Charleston. For Museum Mile Weekend, visitors can purchase an affordable pass that provides admission to twelve sites along the mile, including the Fireproof Building. This year's Museum Mile Weekend schedule is:
Saturday, September 25: 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Sunday, September 26: 1:00 - 3:00 p.m.
The SCHS will feature a special exhibit titled "Stormy Times Ahead: Voices of Secession." The multi-media exhibit, funded in part by a grant from the South Carolina Humanities Council, utilizes items from the Society's collections to tell the story of this crucial time in our nation's history. Maps, photographs, diaries, and letters compliment the original Secession Banner (also on display) to depict the controversy and emotion surrounding the Secession Crisis.
Tours will be given at the top of the hour. As always, admission is free for Historical Society members.
