Palmetto Society
The Palmetto Society coordinates the annual celebration of the American victory at Sullivan's Island on June 28, 1776. The Palmetto Society offers a full slate of free activities to mark the day. The society was founded in 1777 and is the thirteenth oldest organization in the state of South Carolina. Participating organizations include the South Carolina Historical Society, the Society of the Cincinnati, the Gibbes Museum of Art, the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Sons of the American Revolution, and Fort Sumter National Monument (Fort Moultrie division).).
