Gen. Davidson, of Rowan County, North Carolina to Morgan Camp Near Charlotte Jan. 24, 1781. Dear Sir-Just now my Quarter Master returned from Captain Marbury, to whom I sent an order for flints, and found he has not any. 300 militia coming from the District joins me, who are all wanting flints. If you have any that you possibly can spare until I can write and have a return from Gen. Greene, shall replace them. Cannot hear where you are. Should thank you to let me know, as also the Prisoners. The enclosed is a just account of the force at Camden commanded by Lord Rawdon, given by Col. Adam Alexander, just from that place from a Gaol confinement of four months. I am, dear sir, Your most humble servant, WM. L. DAVIDSON (From Cowpens Papers: Being Correspondence of General Morgan and the Prominent Actors, from the collection of Theodorus Bailey Myers, pp. 30-33) Document ID: Myers, p. 30c Date: 1/24/1781 |
